Participants will learn the technoeconomics of Combined Heat & Power (CHP) units and heat-only units, in an integrated heat-electricity system. The course covers the development of optimization models using GAMS and Python/Pyomo for economic dispatch in integrated energy systems. Economic dispatch techniques for minimizing total electricity generation costs across various unit types (power stations, CHP units, and heat-only units) will be explored. Learning these concepts is crucial for optimizing energy systems, reducing costs, and improving overall efficiency in power generation and distribution. Prerequisites for this course include basic knowledge of power systems and familiarity with optimization concepts.
